From Seni to Astronomy by Universiti Sains Malaysia

In April, the Little Penang Street Market (LPSM) celebrates life with the gorgeous sounds of the Music Asli Band from USM giving us live music and songs to dance to. Angkatan Budaya Saria will give us Boria and traditional Malay dances.

Museum & Galleri Tuanku Fauziah, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) – Astronomy to Batik

The Muzium will bring us meteorites, sun gazing and a journey into the galaxy along with batik painting as part of their out reach programme. This programme creates links between the people and the museum which also supports others in programmes concerning arts and heritage.

The link between batik and Astronomy: "Batik is an art and a heritage with a focus on color. In astronomy color is very important as its basis is light and how fast it travels, and the universe is light and colour" – quote En Hasnul Jamal B. Saidon (Director of Museum).

Pembangunan Seni dan Budaya (Dewan Budaya), USM

Dewan Budaya will be bringing us the Seni part of our programme, that is the Melayu Asli Band under En Malik and puan Ramnah.

Angkatan Budaya Sari with Jogee – A Rare Performance

Angkatan Budaya Sari is a group of performers doing traditional activities. They have been the champions of the Penang Boria Championship for the past two years. For our market, they will also be performing the Jogee, a traditional dance form with a hindi influence. This dance is was introduced to Penang via the Bangsawan and as such is rarely performed whether within Penang or in any other state. The Angkatan Budaya Seri is under the advisor ship of our own Cigu Bahroodin Ahmad who can be reached for more information at 012-474 3436.
